June 28, 2011: A "To Read" List for Summer Vacation
Since it's time for vacation, that means that it's time for me to knock some books off of my "read this" list. I try to read as often as I can, but it's during vacation that I get a chance to actually work through a stack and really tear through a list of "should have read by now" books.
- Zombie Pulp, by Tim Curran. I've read Curran's short stories in various anthologies, but this will be the first time I sit down and read an entire book of his work. And I can pretend this is "research" for future Zombie Dice and Munchkin Zombies expansions.
- Supernatural Noir. This short story collection from Dark Horse is in the stack because of the list of authors. I'm hoping it's as much fun to read as it sounds.
- Judge Dredd: Mega-City Masters 02 and Mega-City Masters 03. These are collections of comics, yes, but they're definitely going to be a blast to read. I love the art and attitude of the Dredd stories.
- Sooner Dead, by Mel Odom. I'm not expecting a literary masterpiece from this Gamma World novel, but as long as there are mutants and post-apocalyptic nonsense, I'll be happy.
And that's all that I've got set aside ready to read on vacation. I'm sure I'll be reading other books during the break - based on that list, what would you suggest I try?
