Theories
Demon of Conspiracy Theories: Please note that the
Word is "Conspiracy Theories", not "Conspiracies".
Reivtip's genius is for confusing those who quest for
the Truth: on a successful Perception roll he can
determine which conspiracy theory will most appeal to
a particular human. From there, it's merely a matter
of proper packaging.
Rites: Create a new conspiracy theory.
Considering the number of mutually contradictory
stories surrounding Reitvip, others are surprised that
the demon is not a Balseraph. Assuming, of course,
that he secretly isn't one - or else a Habbalite, or
perhaps a shell for Alaemon himself (or some other
Prince, or maybe even someone from the Other Side)...
Whoever - or whatever - he is, Reitvip is certainly a
player. His particular methodology of combating
Revelations seems a bit odd, for Servitors of Secrets:
instead of denying others access to the Truth, he
shoves it down their collective throats.
Unfortunately, he usually first makes sure that said
Truth is first chopped up and mixed with a liberal
helping of lies, half-truths, wild surmises,
misunderstandings and complete irrelevancies. It
seems to work out about the same, in the end.
The reason why he's a danger beyond his ostensible
power level is because Reitvip is so damned good at
his job. The Impudite can take three unrelated facts,
two false analogies and one reducto ad absurdium and
turn the whole thing into a frighteningly plausible
theory - and he never, ever stops. He knows all the
right places to plant his malignant seeds, too.
Forget the Internet: Reitvip does his best work among
people too paranoid to go online. Not that the
Impudite disdains modern computer culture... but he
was a force before it arose, and he fully intends to
remain a force after it goes away.
As for his personality... well, it's about what you
expect from an entity that finds spreading confusion
and doubt to be as easy as breathing, and a good deal
more fun. The Impudite would make a wonderful
Servitor of Factions (presuming that he really isn't
one, of course), as he combines a twisted enjoyment of
obfuscation for its own sake with a complete inability
to accept that anyone else out there really matters.
He's also a vindictive son of a bitch: those who cross
him seem to have an uncanny tendency to show up later
in various Game investigations as hidden
co-conspirators of one nefarious plot or another.
Reitvip still has quite enough enemies out there to
justify a galloping case of paranoia - not that he
does, of course.
To him, paranoia is something that happens to other
people.
